Well, well, well… in a time when it seems we’re seeing more airline bankruptcies than start-ups, one new U.K.-based airline is going for gold and hoping to strike it rich with a bold endeavor.

Usually, an airline starts out slow and gains a loyal fan base, but Global Airlines is already venturing ‘across the pond’ to lure in American passengers, whizzing them through the skies to one of the U.K.’s most fascinating cities.

This is news to me as I follow airlines like a hawk, hoping to scoop up a great deal no matter whose name is painted on the side.

Lucky for East Coasters, they can do so too and even have a chance (ever so slightly as it may be) to score tickets before they go live.

If adventure is pulling at your heartstrings this spring (and why wouldn’t it be?), let’s dive into everything you need to know to be one of Global Airlines’ first passengers jetting off from New York to the timeless city of Glasgow, Scotland.

A Refreshing Take On Travel: Global Airlines Sounds Promising

While it may be tempting to rack up points with your favorite airline, sometimes cheating on them works out better, and you don’t have to be discreet about it.

Global Airlines is just starting out, but don’t let that deter you. You won’t be a guinea pig here.

Obtaining FAA clearance for American skies is quite an accomplishment, so just know you’re in good hands flying Global, especially on their new fleet of Airbus A380 jumbo jets.

Plus, there’s no Netflix doc on Airbus, ya know?

Starting an airline is a gargantuan task; that’s why you tend to see more going out of business, especially with the state of the world right now, where even notoriously cheap Spirit has had trouble staying afloat when travelers are scoping out ways to save money.

I gotta say, after taking a deep dive into Global Airlines origins, I’m equally jealous as I am impressed.

Founded in 2021 by ‘renowned travel personality and serial entrepreneur’, James Asquith, has accomplished my dream by visiting196 nations, so who better to know the ins and outs of air travel?

If you believe the hype, expect Global Airlines to try to disrupt the airline industry, but hopefully not the same way Ryanair has teased with standing-room only bookings.

Geared toward customer satisfaction, Global Airlines appears to have some undisclosed tricks up their sleeve to tackle ‘long security queues, late flights, lost luggage, inedible food and constant poor customer service’, according to their official website.

Time will tell. If they want capture American travelers’ hearts, maybe offer free checked bags, amirite?

For now, we do know Global will offer standard seating of the usual Economy, Business or First Class with surely more news to come about their flight experience.

Great Scot! Fly Direct to Scotland’s Largest City

According to The Scottish Sun, Global Airlines first transatlantic flight to Glasgow will launch May 19, 2025, departing from New York (JFK) to Glasgow (GLA) at 8 am.

Global has partnered with another lesser-known airline, Hi Fly, with a “wet-lease” agreement to make this happen.

Tickets are bit tricky right now, so don’t mark your calendars just yet. If you’re wanting to be one of the first to sign up, you need to register for their presale.

There are no other direct routes from Glasgow to the U.S.

Why Visit Glasgow?

Glasgow is a perfect balance of old-world charm and eye-popping modernization.

One street beholds some of the most astounding architecture in the U.K, and turn a corner and you’ll see modern structures rising beside centuries-old landmarks and vibrant murals illuminating what otherwise might seem like drab streets.

Despite being Scotland’s largest city, you’ll feel right at home here, which can’t be said for some of Europe’s most popular cities as overtourism has become a talking point across the continent.

It’s said that ‘People Make Glasgow’; it’s truly one of the most fun-spirited cities you’ll ever visit.

Perhaps best of all, if you’re itching to visit the U.K. but worried about blowing your budget through London, Glasgow is a lot more wallet-friendly.

Every year, Mexico seems to be all the rage as if Cancun is the only place suitable for an epic vacation.

But, what’s essentially next door in terms of air travel lies an endless array of vacation options from bustling cities like Panama City, the natural wonders of Costa Rica, newfound hotspots like El Salvador, and historic towns and undiscovered beaches of Nicaragua, perhaps the most overlooked destination of Central America.

Well, there’s no need to overlook it any longer, as Nicaragua just became easier to reach with a new flight from a major U.S. airport.

As Costa Rica was just issued a travel alert, including the main airport, maybe it’s a sign from the travel gods to scope out more of Central America’s hidden gems, and what better starting point than Nicaragua’s sprawling capital city of Managua?

Nicaragua: Central America’s Most Underrated Country

Nicaragua is no one-trick pony; it’s among the most diverse nations of Central America with world-class beaches, lush tropical jungles, islands you’ve never heard of, and timeless towns well worth making your base.

In fact, the general consensus of travelers who’ve visited will tell you to skip the major cities of Managua and Leon in favor of charming villages and laid-back coastal hideaways such as resort-lined San Juan del Sur.

Most travelers, including expats and digital nomads, find themselves in the vibrant Colonial town of Granada, surrounded by numerous lakes and staggering volcanoes in the distance.

Of course, the biggest appeal is Granada’s affordability, especially for long-term stays. Although, short-terms guests can score cheap hostels in the $10 range and private Airbnb’s for $40 (just watch out for sneaky fees like charging for electricity!).

Nicaragua’s Secret Caribbean Islands

Like Mexico, Belize, and Costa Rica, Nicaragua boasts a Pacific coastline as well as the Caribbean, and that’s where you’ll find some truly stunning islands no one ever seems to talk about.

Although having a funny name, there’s nothing corny about The Corn Islands. Set in the Caribbean off the coast from Bluefields, these blips in the sea are the ultimate Caribbean hideaway for those seeking untouched shores and virtually no crowds like you’ll find in Jamaica, The Bahamas, and of course the always-popular Mexican Caribbean.

The turquoise waters are as pristine as it gets for snorkeling, diving, swimming, or simply relaxing among one of the Caribbean’s most underrated backdrops.

There are multiple hotels and rentals, but no flashy resorts like you might envision for a Caribbean vacation.

The cuisine here is sensational, especially when sitting beachside overlooking turquoise waters and paying bottom-barrel prices like you will at Bar Beach Bar Vybz, walkable from a cozy stay at top-rated Villy’s Cottage.

Avianca’s New Flight To Managua

Avianca is one of Latin America’s top airlines and they have recently announced a major expansion into North American markets.

As such, a new flight to Managua is one of the most anticipated as there were only a pair of U.S. airports directly serving Nicaragua as Spirit Airlines has continually cancelled routes.

To be fair, Spirit does say they have been planning on re-booting their sole Managua route from Fort Lauderdale (FLL), but as someone who has purchased this flight multiple times, the controversial budget airline who is in the midst of deeply-rooted bankruptcy concerns has only pushed the goal posts further back.

Travelers shouldn’t have the same trust issues with Avianca, who will begin serving Fort Lauderdale for the first time in its history.

These are the only 3 U.S. airports directly serving Managua, Nicaragua (MGA) in 2025:

• Miami (MIA) – American Airlines, Avianca
• Houston (HOU) – United Airlines
• Fort Lauderdale (FLL) – Avianca (beginning May 10), Spirit Airlines (seasonally)

Is Nicaragua Safe?

Like any travel advisory, they should be taken seriously but also not serve as a blanket statement.

Truth is crime can happen anywhere, even in destinations deemed as safe havens like Cancun.

The difference with Nicaragua is their government, which is notoriously strict. It’s reasonable to say that you’ll want to avoid any unfortunate run-ins.

A new travel advisory was issued on December 13th, 2024, for such concerns, highlighting ‘arbitrary enforcement of laws, the risk of wrongful detention, and limited healthcare availability.’

While most Americans venturing south of the border will find themselves in Cancun, Cabo, or Mexico City, there’s another historic city that’s becoming far easier to reach this year.

Why Visit San Luis Potosi?

Mexico used to be solely viewed as a beach destination by Americans, but Mexico City has since soared to new heights.

Following suit, places like Guadalajara, Guanajuato, and Oaxaca have become popular city breaks in their own right.

Some travelers have felt they’ve worn out their welcome in Oaxaca and Mexico City, in particular, as overtourism concerns have been well-documented.

When it comes to Mexico’s hidden gems, there’s more authenticity, better prices, and less crowds standing in your way,

San Luis Potosi certainly fits the mold. Not only can you explore charming cobbled streets and historic marvels, you can score the luxe Hilton San Luis Potosi for just $87 this spring.

The one must-see in the city center is the unmissable San Luis Potosi Cathedral, which has been anchoring the vibrant cityscape since 1593.

There are numerous postcard-worthy plazas to wander while you’re here, such as Plaza Fundadores and Plaza de Aranzazu.

To most, Mexico is a mix of paradisal beach towns, culturally rich cities, and a handful of no-go zones.

While this is certainly true, what people sleep on is Mexico’s astounding nature aside from the aforementioned beach havens.

You might not think of Mexico as the place to go chasing waterfalls, but San Luis Potosi is just the place, actually.

La Huasteca Potosina is home to cascading falls like Tamul Waterfall, and crystal-clear rivers, swimming holes, and breathtaking cave systems.

New Volaris Flights

I might be a little biased since I live close to the border, but Volaris is one of my top go-to’s for cheap flights, especially since it seems they run insanely cheap sales every month.

Mexico City-based Volaris connects almost anywhere in Mexico, but they are slowly but surely expanding their presence in the U.S., giving Americans the opportunity to explore what seems like uncharted territory for the average traveler.

According to their website, Mexico’s top low-cost carrier just announced 30 new flights, but the most exciting ones connect a trio of Texas cities to San Luis Potosi (SLP).

Volaris is launching new flights from San Antonio (SAT), Houston (IAH), and Dallas (DFW) in July, with expected service three times per week for SAT and IAH and four flights per week for DFW.

New Aeromexico Flight

If you haven’t heard of Volaris, that’s okay. Surely, you’ve heard of Mexico’s flagship airline, Aeromexico.

Following Volaris’ unintentional Southern theme, another city from the South is getting a direct flight to San Luis Potosi.

Beginning June 5, 2025, Aeromexico will begin operating daily flights to SLP from Atlanta (ATL).

If you’ve never flown with Aeromexico before, know they are a SkyTeam member, making connections via Delta easy peasy.

U.S. Airlines Flying To San Luis Potosi

While Volaris and Aeromexico may be gaining the attention with new flights, American Airlines and United Airlines are the only U.S.-based carriers offering direct flights to SLP.

For what it’s worth, both of these Mexican airlines are deemed safe; otherwise, they wouldn’t have clearance for American skies.

But earning points can be tough, especially for Volaris. In that case, going with United or American is surely your best bet, given that they currently offer flights from Dallas and Houston, two of Volaris’ new destinations.

As convenient as air travel may be, and as awesome as it is to snag a window seat at cruising altitude, the truth is we have no idea if we’re looking down at Paris, Texas or Paris, France.

As a result, train travel has become more popular for the adventurous, with the U.S. taking a page out of Europe’s playbook.

However, we’re a little behind the times for bullet trains.

But that’s just the point.

More travelers seem to be opting for low-and-slow travel by hitting the rails for sweeping views of America’s gorgeous landscapes and timeless small towns instead of soaring above the clouds.

‘America the Beautiful’ lives up the name with numerous scenic train rides across the mainland and National Geographic has narrowed them down the best routes.

These are the top 3 U.S. train rides for 2025:

3) Acela Express: A 150MPH East Coast Adventure

Commercial jets can fly as fast as 575mph, but why deal with the hassle of the airport when you can still reach your destination in a reasonable time?

Train stations are far less of a hassle. When you can still reach speeds of 150mph, Amtrak’s Acela Express is a speedy journey to explore some of the East Coast’s most iconic cities.

Covering Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and ultimately Washington DC, you can knock 4 urban jungles well worth a day trip at the very least.

You gotta grab a cheesesteak in Philly, right?

As such, the downside (or upside), depending on your preferred style of travel, is passengers need to purchase a ticket for each leg of the trip. (i.e. Boston to New York, New York to Philly, etc.)

Taking 51 hours in total, you’ll want to download some movies and pack a new book or two. That is unless you’re into the new “raw dogging” trend taking social media by storm.

Yeah…good luck with that. One thing you won’t have to worry about is food. The dining car even serves steak!

Departing from Chicago to, you guessed it, California, you’ll want to take advantage of the option to choose a window when purchasing your ticket as you’ll cross some of America’s prettiest landscapes from the snow-capped Rockies to Utah’s fiery red canyons.

Ultimately, you’ll reach Emeryville, a small town outside of Oakland, which you’ll surely bypass for much more opportune explorations in San Francisco and San Jose.

With domed-glass carriages, and as soft and cushy as the seats may be, you may want to pack a neck pillow as you’ll be glued to seemingly never-ending floor-to-ceiling views of magnificent canyons, picturesque ghost towns, and even wineries, as you snake along the winding Colorado River.

The Rocky Mountaineer is perhaps the most unique train journey in America, and without a doubt a bucket-list item.

This train offers 4 routes:

Year after year, airlineratings.com has released their annual list of the world’s safest airlines in some form or another.

For 2025, these travel experts unveiled some big surprises both globally and domestically – many of which fly through U.S. skies.

You might be wondering how such a list is compiled. No worries; it’s not some basement-dwelling dimwit using AI based on a bunch of gobbledygook.

AirlineRatings gathers its data from pilots and various aviation experts as well as uses the following information to put together an insightful list for travelers like you and me.

• Noteworthy incidents over a two-year span
• Age of fleet
• Size of fleet
• Rate of incidents
• Fatalities
• Profitability
• IOSA certification
• ICAO country audit pass
• Pilot training and skill level

There you have it. Now let’s dig in!

These are the 3 safest U.S. airlines for 2025:

3) American Airlines

Some airlines on the list you’ll likely never board, but American Airlines is truly an American staple.

Headquartered in the Dallas region, even providing employees with their own hotel, travelers may love flying American just as much as flight attendants enjoy their cool perks.

Out of all U.S. airlines ranking in the top 23 global airlines for safety, America comes in 3rd in the nation and 13th in the world, which is great to know since the latest data shows the mega-popular airline served over 2 million passengers in 2023.

American flies to some really awesome places all over the world, including 2 exciting new routes to Italy this year, and obviously connects much of the U.S., given its name.

In terms of safety, AA scores a perfect 7/7, while the product is just a 5.5/7. And ohhh boy, don’t get travelers started on the passenger experience, scoring a lowly 4.4.

As the kids would say, “that’s mid, bruh”. But anything beats Spirit, right?

2) Hawaiian Airlines

Ever flown across the ocean?

The views can be stunningly beautiful or absolutely terrifying. You may not want a window seat if you’re the type that looks down when someone says, “Don’t look down!”.

Hawaiian Airlines obviously connects Hawaii to the mainland, among numerous international destinations as well.

In other words, all flights soar over the ocean, so there may be no other airline you’ll want to feel safer since Captain Sully retired.

Hawaiian barely eked out Americans for the 12th spot globally and also holds bragging rights for better service and products, with a 5.4 passenger experience score and perfect 7/7 ratings for product and safety.

1) Alaska Airlines

Let’s get right to it. Airline Ratings has got some ‘splainin’ to do.

Remember when Alaska Airlines’ door plug blew off in 2024? It had nothing to do with those wild stories of passengers attempting to open emergency doors mid-flight and everything to do with maintenance shortcuts.

That doesn’t exactly paint a picture of safety. Perhaps this is where Airline Ratings’ “fatalities” bullet point comes into play since there were fortunately no lives lost during one of the scariest flight situations imaginable.

Despite this mishap just a year ago, Alaska Airlines remains a very popular airline, especially for short getaways. Not only does Alaska fly to, well, Alaska, they fly to many awesome cities and hidden gems, many of which are along the West Coast.

In addition to having the most reliable wi-fi, Alaska notched perfect ratings for product and safety (somehow) and matches Hawaiian with a 5.4 passenger experience score.

Airline Ratings’ Take On Air Safety In 2025

In a day and age of instant information, flight accidents may seem like they occur more often, but they may just be reaching our screens quicker.

It might be tempting to jump to conclusions when you see (very few) planes fall from the sky, but Airline Ratings cites a recent airline study claiming ‘global death risk per flight boarding was approximately one in 13.7 million’.

Pretty solid odds, right?

However, those concerned might appreciate Skyscanner’s new tool, a first-of-its-kind flight booking platform allowing users to search for flights based on safety.

Hot diggity dog! Our tax dollars have finally been put to good use by the very people we pay to represent us.

It’s been a contentious year in the world of politics, but no matter if you’re Team Donkey, Team Elephant, or toeing the line in the middle, surely we can all agree it’s long overdue for an overhaul of travel-related fees, especially sneaky ones!

I mean, wasn’t it popcorn-worthy to watch the CCOs of Frontier and Spirit squirm being grilled by the Senate for incentivizing gate agents to scope out oversized baggage?

Well, now it’s hotels’ and vacation rentals’ turn to make things right, so there’s no more sudden surprises.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) just announced a bipartisan rule officially banning so-called ‘junk fees’ just months after other traveler-friendly protections were implemented for flight delays and cancellations.

What Are ‘Junk Fees’?

Travel long enough, and you’ve probably encountered the ol’ bait-and-switch tactic at some point.

In fact, my girlfriend, who is a hotel manager, says add-on fees are guests’ most common complaint.

Fortunately, in this case, they’re bozos who didn’t read the clearly marked parking fee, but she also says there are many guests asking if her property charges a ‘resort fee‘ – Exhibit A for junk fees.

There have been many bad apples who hide charges at first glance only to tack them on your final bill, and you know exactly who the main culprit has been.

Is it a sin to tack on resort fees?

Ehh, maybe not. But ‘Sin City’ is the Mecca for sneaking in charges, where oftentimes tourists are caught by surprise with exorbitant fees higher than their room rate.

It’s similar to budget airlines selling $25 flights, only to tell you your bag is too large for a ‘carry-on’ as you board and charging you double (if not more) than what you spent on airfare before allowing you to take your seat.

In other words, a cheap trip can stack up really quickly! The FTC has taken notice and is putting a stop to it.

The bottom line is to check your bottom line. There will be so much more transparency moving forward.

Hotels and vacation rentals will still be able to charge extra fees, but you’ll know about them upfront.

How Hotels And Vacation Rentals Will Look Going Forward

Truth be told, after visiting nearly 40 countries, the research that goes into a trip can be more exhausting than the travel itself.

Confirming prices, scouring reviews, and navigating complicated policies can be such a drag to the point you might ask yourself if it’s worth taking a trip at all.

The good news is those days will now be few and few between – at least for domestic trips.

The U.S. obviously has no bearing on what Cancun, Punta Cana, or Timbuktu charge.

Let’s use Airbnb as an example. When I plan out a trip and want more space or an amenity that hotels don’t typically have, like in-unit washers and dryers, I opt for Airbnb.

When searching apartments, you’ll see nightly rates all over the map, quite literally and figuratively, but what you won’t see right away are the big question marks that reveal themselves on the final checkout page.

These can range from pet fees, extra guest charges, and the company’s much-maligned cleaning fees, which can often be outrageous.

I’ve even had a host try to charge me extra for their electricity bill, which was never discussed until after checking out.

Needless to say that Venmo request was denied, but you can see why the FTC has needed to step in.

The primary issue with hotels is the aforementioned resort fees, so rather than think you just scored the deal of a lifetime on a $99 beachfront villa; it will now be listed as, say, a $500 beachfront villa with an itemized breakdown of resort fees, etc.

The FTC’s press release states, ‘the most prominent price in an ad needs to be the all-in total price—truthful itemization and breakdowns are fine but should not overshadow what consumers want to know: the real total’.

Live Events Are Affected Too

In a day and age where travelers follow their favorite musical acts and sports teams, the FTC is tackling the same issues for live events.

For example, when I buy tickets for my beloved Padres, I never pay anything close to the price listed for tickets.

If I think I’m buying $30 outfield seats, that likely means $55 outfield seats with all the extra fees tacked on.

Now those tickets should be listed as $55 (or close) to avoid any headaches and surprises.

The FTC estimates that consumers across the board will save over 53 million hours of time and over $11 billion over the next decade.

The new rules have already passed in a 4 to 1 vote and will become effective 120 days after it’s published in the Federal Register.

Travel can be as addictive as it is expensive. And I have the bank balance to prove it!  

But if you want to travel more without spending a fortune, then one of the biggest ways to save cash is by choosing the right destination.  

Picking a travel destination that offers budget hotel rooms, affordable costs on the ground, and perhaps most importantly, cheap flights are all great ways to save money. 

Dollar Flight Club has revealed a list of the cheapest U.S. destinations to fly to in 2025. Meaning 2025 can be a big year in travel without breaking the bank.  

Note: I’m often a little dubious about lists like this. However, Dollar Flight Club analyzed a full year of airfare data, took into account destinations with multiple departure points, and used seasonal travel data to look at airfare peaks, too.  

Destinations were ranked based on the affordability of their airfare as well as the frequency of their flights and connections from major US hubs.  

5. Nashville, Tennessee (BNA)  

Nashville is the heart of the country and a paradise for music lovers. If you’re looking for old-school Southern hospitality and a huge dose of charm, then this is the place to be.  

As well as epic live music venues, you’ll also find incredible heritage architecture. The growing art scene in the city means there is an abundance of galleries and art shows to enjoy, too.  

The Dollar Flight Club report puts Nashville as the 5^th most affordable destination in the U.S., with average flight prices of $190.  

The best time to visit Nashville is in the spring, especially if you’re a music fan as this is when the most renowned music festivals take place in the city.  

With this advice in mind, I looked for some sample prices for flights in April.  

The cheapest flights available right now are from Chicago. Departing on April 1 and returning on April 8 will cost $178. This is based on economy-class flights with American Airlines.  

4. Austin, Texas (AUS) 

Austin is a modern city with an old-fashioned attitude.

You’ll be sure of a warm welcome here, and there is a thriving cultural and arts scene to immerse yourself in in the city, too.  

Austin is known as the live music capital of the world, so if you’re looking for some of the best live music venues and festivals in the U.S., then that’s another great reason to put Austin on your bucket list.  

The best time to visit the city is in March when the South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival is taking place.  

The cheapest destination to fly from Austin is Denver, Colorado. Return flights from March 12 to March 19 will cost $98. This is based on economy-class flights with Frontier Airlines.  

3. Las Vegas, Nevada (LAS) 

As an adult playground, Las Vegas is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the U.S. and one of the most domestically well-connected.

Which explains why it took 3rd place on this list.  

Las Vegas is known for its casinos, mega resorts, and hotels. But it has so much more to offer. Think of a huge array of fine dining options as well as epic outdoor pursuits.  

To take advantage of the cheapest flight and hotel prices, Dollar Flight Club suggests traveling in December and January.  

Using this info, I looked at flights for January and found San Francisco is the cheapest departure airport. Flying out on January 8 and returning on January 15 will cost just $36 return.  

This is based on an economy-class ticket with Frontier Airlines.  

2. Denver, Colorado (DEN) 

Coming in 2^nd place is Denver, which is an outdoor lovers’ dream destination.

This is a city best known for its high-quality winter skiing nearby, but there are also amazing hiking trails to enjoy here in the summer months.  

Looking for something a little more relaxing and, dare I say it, sedentary? The craft beer scene in Denver is highly regarded, so why not book a brewery tour or two? 

The best time to visit depends on what you’re looking for. Try March for the tail end of the ski season or late summer for hiking.  

Return flights from Salt Lake City are available in March for as little as $39. This is based on flights from March 1 – March 8 with Frontier Airlines, flying economy class.  

1. Orlando, Florida (MCO) 

Perhaps one of the most well-known and iconic vacation destinations in the U.S., every kid in the world dreams of visiting Orlando.

(And many adults want to go to heal their inner child too!)  

The big attractions, of course, are Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. But Orlando also offers world-class shopping, restaurants, and outdoor activities too.  

According to Dollar Flight Club, average flight prices are $150, and the best time to visit is in early January or early September to beat crowds and demand.  

Based on this, I looked for January flight prices and found nonstop return flights from Atlanta with Spirit Airlines for $48. This was based on an economy class flight departing on January 8 and returning on January 15.  

The very cheapest flights were from Durham, North Carolina. Departing on January 7 and returning on January 11 would cost $39. This is based on an economy-class flight with Frontier Airlines.

As the world reopens, restrictions vanish, and attractions fully reopen—Americans are visiting their favorite destinations despite rising gas costs and increased flight prices.

And according to Google, these destinations are the top-searched destinations in summer 2022 for Americans: 

1. Yellowstone National Park 

Yellowstone National Park was the world’s first national park and is perhaps America’s most splendid. It was the most searched destination among Americans this summer.

Yellowstone National Park stretches over 3,472 square miles—with the highest peak at 11,358 feet. The park is so vast it’s bigger than the states of Delaware and Rhode Island combined. In 2019, over 4 million tourists visited the national park.

Yellowstone National Park is also home to 67 species of mammals, 285 species of birds, 5 species of amphibians, and 16 species of fish.

The second most searched destination for Americans in the summer of 2022 is the Glacier National Park. Located within the incredible Rocky Mountains—often referred to as The Rockies—the Glacier National Park spans 1,583 square miles. 

Furthermore, the Glacier National Park is notorious for its incredible hiking trails. Popular trails include the Grinnell Glacier Trail, Avalanche Lake via the Trail of the Cedars, Highline Trail: Logan Pass to Granite Park Chalet, the Hidden Lake Trail, and the Iceberg Lake Trail. 

There are currently—although the number is decreasing—26 glaciers in the Glacier National Park. The largest glacier is the Blackfoot Glacier. However, the 25 other glaciers are stunning. The national park remains incredibly popular; it attracted 3.05 million visitors in 2019.

If you’re looking for gorgeous beaches but don’t fancy heading to Florida, California, or Mexico, Lake Tahoe is an excellent spot.

The lake receives around 15 million visitors yearly, making it one of the most popular destinations in the United States. It’s not hard to see why!

In addition, the theme park includes an impressive 121 acres of outdoor activities mixed with green spaces, shady trees, and gorgeous summer sunshine.

The park also has a zoo, museum, 13 roller coasters, 15 water attractions, and 26 children’s rides.

Who’s up for an adventure?

Typically, winter travelers stay close to home for winter sun and save up for a big summer trip, but why wait?!

The world is a big place, but it seems a lot smaller when there are nonstop flights to far-flung destinations.

Good news for Americans is one of the most exciting new routes was just launched to an incredible warm weather city in ‘the land down under’.

While it might be tempting to explore Melbourne’s buzzing streets or pose in front of Sydney’s world-famous Opera House, there’s another Australian city deserving of a seat at the table with 3 nonstops routes from the U.S.

Brisbane: One Of Australia’s Coolest Cities

Ever heard of Brisbane? Let’s refresh your memory.

If you’re like me, one of the most famous Aussies was a childhood hero of mine.

You know who I’m talking about, the Crocodile Hunter himself, Steve Irwin. Just north of Brisbane was Steve’s playground for all his thrilling animal encounters.

His parents founded Beerwah Reptile Park, where he was practically raised, is now the world famous Australia Zoo, home to 1,200 animals and counting.

Say what you want about zoos, but this one has to be the exception to any hesitations as you won’t be able to withhold your enthusiasm for wildlife in typical Irwin fashion.

Tip: the zoo offers day tours from Brisbane every day at 9am.

That being said, the zoo is not the only reason to jet off to Brisbane – it’s truly an awesome city to explore, especially when it’s 85 degrees here and freezing back home.

Here in Brisbane, the outdoors seem to come alive, whether perusing trendy neighborhoods and enjoying a coffee under a shaded patio, to going for a swim at the man-made urban oasis, Streets Beach (free admission!).

And that’s just within the cityscape. Brisbane is best explored as a region rather than staying within arm’s reach of the pretty skyline.

Come hungry, pack your swimwear and hiking shoes, and you’re sure to have an unforgettable trip discovering Aussie’s paradises, such as Nudgee Beach, Suttons Beach, and D’Aguilar National Park.

Jaw-Dropping Coastlines & Kangaroos On The Beach

Brisbane is set on prime real estate with its own set of beautiful beaches but also within 2 hours of both Sunshine Coast to the north and slightly closer Gold Coast to the south.

Within Brisbane, visitors will love hitting up Suttons and Nudgee as I just highlighted, but also Shorncliffe Beach lined with fish ‘n chip eateries and the reddish sands of Redcliffe Beach as well.

There are too many to name, but what may be most enticing is a trip to Brisbane’s numerous islands, which may fly under the radar.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Australia without kangaroo sightings – but why not level up with said sightings on the beach?

Bribie Island is home to unbounded Eastern Grey kangaroos, among other wildlife.

Just try to avoid getting into a boxing match as seen on some viral TikTok clips albeit you probably stand a better chance than whatever the world just witnessed watching Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson…what was that?!

For more tame wildlife sightings, head to North Stradbroke Island by ferry from Cleveland for out-of-this-world beaches and whale sightings.

Reaching Brisbane From The U.S.

The West Coast had a monopoly on Brisbane’s direct flights, but yippy ki yay, there’s a new sheriff in town.

Dallas has entered the chat, launching the Lone Star State’s most exciting new route on October 26th.

Now that the new flight has commenced, all of America top dogs fly to Brisbane nonstop – Delta, United, and the latest to the party, American, who also just announced 2 new routes to Italy as well.

Here is the full rundown for Brisbane – U.S. flights:

• Los Angeles: United flies from LAX on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday on a 13 hour 25 minute flight
• San Francisco: Delta flies from SFO excluding Monday and Thursday on a 13 hour 5 minute flight
• Dallas: American flies out of DFW every day at 9:40am on a 14 hour 55 minute flight

‘Leaf peepers’ may be in full force scoping out vibrant foliage across the continent, but before you know it, snow will soon transform those very same tree lines into vast winter wonderlands.

Colorado is one of the top places for such an excursion where the gorgeous Rockies are dotted with delightful towns perfect for a winter escape.

Airlines have surely taken notice, adding a handful of new flights to one underrated Colorado town with village-like streets and wondrous mountains as a picture-perfect backdrop.

While Aspen may be the household name of Colorado’s numerous small-town mountainous getaways, it’s time to set your sights on Vail this winter, as it’s easier to reach than ever before.

Alaska’s New Flight To Vail

Typically popular along the West Coast and Mexico, Alaska couldn’t help but dip their toes in Colorado’s frigid winter waters by adding Vail as one of their newest destinations.

However, the airline is no stranger to Colorado’s beauty, as it also flies to Denver, Aspen, and a boatload of hidden gems, such as Steamboat Springs.

In other words, adding Vail to the list is long overdue. So who are the lucky 2 cities that get to fly nonstop come December?

Well, in typical Alaska fashion, 2 of the West Coast’s best cities are the big winners. Those would be Seattle and San Diego.

Beginning December 20th, both Washingtonians and Southern Californians can get their winter splendor fix with direct flights to Vail.

Frontier’s New Flight To Vail

Say what you want about Frontier, but they have stood the test of time in the rapidly changing budget airline industry, and kudos to them.

Despite many of us feeling sorry for their PR team with bad press issued left and right in recent years, the proud low-cost carrier recently announced in tandem with fellow cheapo Spirit they are dropping cancelations and change fees on all flights to become more flyer-friendly.

The airline has announced multiple new flights in recent months, but Vail may stand out the most in their surprisingly impressive network for winter escapes.

Obviously, Frontier knows Colorado like the back of its headrests, which is based in Denver. But truth be told, it’s a good thing they’re adding Vail because a winter drive through the backroads from Denver is a tough trek!

The 2 lucky cities with direct routes to Eagle County Airport (EGE) are Dallas/Fort Worth and San Francisco.

Initial flights out of DFW will begin December 16th and a few days later out of SFO on December 19th. Both cities will operate flights twice per week for Frontier’s first-ever routes to Vail.

No Better Place To Hit The Slopes!

Since all new flights are slated for the week before Christmas, are you thinking what I’m thinking?

December is when Vail truly becomes a quintessential “winter wonderland”, almost is if you’re stuck inside a snowglobe you don’t want to escape.

The mountains gleam with fresh powdery snow, providing ideal conditions for skiers and snowboarders throughout the month and into the new year.

Better yet, unlike the movie that put Aspen on the map, you won’t be saying to yourself, ‘I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this’, with over 5,000 acres of skiable terrain to shred, bruh. 🤙
