Forget everything you thought you knew about all-inclusive resorts. My recent stay at the Grand Velas Boutique Hotel Los Cabos wasn’t just a vacation; it was a meticulously crafted experience in luxury travel, where every desire was anticipated and every detail a delightful surprise. If you’re seeking a premium adults-only all-inclusive experience in Mexico, this might just be your answer.

Unveiling Unparalleled Luxury: My Jaw-Dropping Suite

Stepping into my Grand Class King Suite felt like entering a private luxury apartment in Cabo. At a sprawling 2,000 square feet, it offered an incredible sense of space. What’s truly remarkable is that even their smaller luxury suites boast the same exceptional amenities, each featuring a private jacuzzi or a plunge pool on the balcony – a hallmark of exclusive resorts in Los Cabos.

My gaze immediately fell upon the private, heated large jacuzzi on the expansive terrace, perfectly paired with a chic gas fire pit overlooking the breathtaking ocean views of Los Cabos. Picture this: serene evenings, a warm soak, and the soft glow of flames against the Mexican sky. And that was merely the beginning of this luxury vacation.

From the moment you arrive, the level of personalized service in your suite is evident, with a dedicated on-demand concierge ensuring your comfort through a curated selection of amenities. Settling in was effortless, especially with the thoughtful unpacking service.

Knowing I could also have a couple of garments pressed on arrival was a welcome touch. As a coffee lover, the selection of my favorite Nespresso pods provided by the concierge was a definite plus each morning. The suite aroma menu allowed me to personalize the ambiance, adding another layer to the luxurious feel, and the pillow menu ensured a perfect night’s sleep. Even small details like the option for a shoe shine and a luxurious bath preparation highlighted the attention to every guest need.

Inside, the premium amenities continued relentlessly. Imagine finding Dyson hair dryers and optional Dyson straighteners in the bathroom – an unprecedented touch for an all-inclusive hotel! The Vitamin C-infused shower left my skin feeling incredibly refreshed and soft. Sumptuous robes beckoned immediate relaxation, and the gourmet Nespresso machine ensured my caffeine cravings were always satisfied.

From the top-tier bedding on the incredibly comfortable king-sized bed to the luxurious Molton Brown bath products and plush sofas, uncompromising quality was evident in every detail. And the mini-bar? Absolutely incredible, stocked with an impressive selection of beverages, fine wines, and gourmet snacks – all part of this ultimate all-inclusive package. My expectations for luxury accommodations in Los Cabos were truly exceeded.

A Culinary Destination: Gourmet Dining Beyond the Ordinary All-Inclusive

And then there was the food – a true highlight for any luxury traveler. An all-inclusive resort that offers a tomahawk steak? Believe it! At Loto Robata Grill, under the guidance of the acclaimed 2-Michelin-star chef Sidney Schutte, I savored a perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth tomahawk that redefined my understanding of fine dining at an all-inclusive. This wasn’t just good food; it was a world-class culinary experience, a reason in itself to book a gourmet getaway in Los Cabos.

But the culinary adventures didn’t end there. Room service wasn’t a limited selection; it was a comprehensive, gourmet experience, including a delightful breakfast spread delivered right to my suite’s dining table each morning – perfect for a romantic breakfast in Cabo. Beyond the Boutique property, guests also have access to the diverse restaurants at the main Grand Velas resort, including Cocina de Autor, where a Michelin-star chef crafts an extraordinary 8-course tasting menu – a must-try for foodies visiting Los Cabos.

Even by the stunning infinity pool, the service was impeccable. Poolside treats included freshly made guacamole and incredibly flavorful rib-eye tacos. And the drinks? Top-shelf premium liquors were poured, ensuring every sip was as luxurious as the stunning surroundings – ideal for a luxury adults-only escape feel, enhancing the serene and sophisticated atmosphere.

Indulgence Beyond Measure: Activities & Service That Anticipates Your Every Whim

The indulgence at Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos truly extends outdoors, highlighted by their stunning two-level heated infinity pool. This impressive feature overlooks the breathtaking beach and the powerful, mesmerizing ocean waves. While the beachfront location offers stunning views and the sound of the powerful Pacific waves, the strong currents and rough surf directly in front of Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos generally make it unsuitable for casual swimming.

Lounging poolside is an experience in itself, with luxurious tanning beds and impeccable service. The attentive staff anticipate every need, from moving your umbrella to keep you shaded as the sun moves, to providing plush towels the moment you step out of the water, and ensuring your drink is never empty. The convenience of a swim-up bar and the luxurious poolside bathrooms further elevate this oasis of relaxation.

The attention to detail at Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos also extends to their exceptional fitness facilities. A massive gym, surprisingly spacious for a boutique property with only 79 suites, awaits guests. The sleek black and gold design houses the latest in workout technology and a vast selection of machines, catering to every fitness level and preference.

Beyond the exquisite food and lavish rooms, Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos weaves an extra layer of luxury into its activities and service. Everything is included, from fascinating wine tasting sessions to spirited tequila tastings. For those seeking wellness and cultural immersion, the resort also offers invigorating yoga classes and engaging cooking classes, allowing you to further enhance your vacation experience. But the undisputed highlight for me, and seemingly for everyone, was the chocolate tasting – a truly decadent experience that will leave your mouth watering for every single bite.

Despite the resort often being fully booked, it never feels crowded. With only 79 suites, there’s an exclusive, intimate ambiance that ensures tranquility – ideal for a relaxing vacation in Mexico. Guests seeking a vibrant nightlife scene with numerous on-site entertainment options might find the atmosphere here more geared towards romance, relaxation and sophisticated indulgence.

The staff are simply exceptional. They are attentive, proactive, and cater to every need, often before you even realize it. Need anything? Simply WhatsApp or iMessage your dedicated on-demand concierge, and it’s taken care of. This level of personalized service truly distinguishes Grand Velas as a leader in luxury hospitality in Los Cabos.

The Serene Sanctuary: A World-Class Spa Experience

After indulging in the resort’s many offerings, the spa at Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos provides the perfect opportunity for rejuvenation. My massage was incredible, performed on a high-tech heated massage table by skilled therapists who eased away every tension. This is a key feature for those seeking a wellness retreat in Los Cabos.

Enhancing the spa experience is their renowned water ceremony, included with every 50-minute massage or longer. This isn’t just a quick dip; it’s a guided journey of revitalization featuring a sauna, steam room, ice room, a sensory experience of six different rain shower sensations, a serene jacuzzi, and uniquely, high-tech sleep therapy chairs for a refreshing 20-minute nap – leaving you feeling completely revitalized and ready for more of your dream vacation in Los Cabos.

While the all-inclusive offerings at Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos are extensive, guests should be aware that spa treatments are generally separate and incur additional fees.

The Investment in Paradise: Is This Luxury All-Inclusive Worth It?

Let’s address the cost: Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos represents a significant investment in your luxury travel plans. With nightly rates starting around $1,400 US for an Ocean View Sunrise King suite and reaching $2,000 for a Grand Class King Suite, it’s undoubtedly a premium vacation option.

However, when you consider the true value – the expansive suites with private large jacuzzies and high-end amenities, the Michelin-caliber dining (including that incredible Tomahawk!), the top-shelf premium liquors, the personalized concierge service, and even the thoughtful inclusion of Dyson hair tools – setting a new standard for luxury amenities in Mexico – the value proposition becomes clear. This isn’t just paying for a room and meals; it’s investing in an unparalleled, stress-free, ultra-luxury experience in Los Cabos where every detail is flawlessly managed. It’s the perfect choice for a honeymoon in Los Cabos or a memorable anniversary trip to Mexico.

Final Verdict: Experience Unforgettable Luxury in Los Cabos

This is an ultra-luxury, top-tier all-inclusive experience designed for discerning travelers seeking the best vacation experiences in Los Cabos. Whether you’re planning an unforgettable honeymoon, a milestone anniversary celebration, a special corporate retreat, or simply a spectacular escape to paradise in Mexico, Grand Velas Boutique Hotel Los Cabos will undoubtedly exceed your expectations. It’s not just a hotel; it’s a new standard for luxury all-inclusive resorts worldwide.

Discover Mexico’s 3 Most Underrated All-Inclusive Getaways For 2025

Share The Article

Cancun, Cabo, and Puerto Vallarta. Vacationers often limit themselves to this trifecta of Mexican powerhouses.

Truth is, Mexico as a whole gets a bad rap, and not everyone views this culturally enchanting and naturally astounding country as a playground for adventure.

Conversely, not everyone’s version of adventure is a relaxing, all-inclusive getaway in a city you might not have heard of before.

It’s time to change that perspective.

Window views of pool and sea from Manzillo resort

Rather than follow the crowd overpaying for Cabo’s glamorous resorts and having to fight your way to the swim-up bar, there are 3 underrated all-inclusive beach destinations calling your name this year — and one has been compared to Santorini!

A Travel Advisory Foreword:

All 3 destinations presented are based in Level 4: Do Not Travel states. But, there’s a catch…

The U.S. State Department categorizes Mexico’s travel advisories based on states, not cities.

Saying no to visiting Sinaloa, for example, basically equates to issuing an advisory for the entire state of California during L.A.’s recent wildfire disasters.

Would you feel that you should avoid Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, or Palm Springs too? Chances are that’s a hard no.

Woman draped with Mexico flag

As a seasoned traveler throughout Mexico, I’ve visited numerous destinations ranging from ‘safe’ to ‘dangerous’, and I can attest the same perspective should be applied here.

Yes, there are definite no-go regions of Mexico, but these 3 bright spots, which just so happen to be located in problematic states, are well-protected with a hefty National Guard presence, local police force, and private security to maintain a safe haven for tourists.

Look at it this way — all 3 vacation spots have multiple nonstop flights from the U.S. and Canada.
Do you think airlines would be making a profit selling flights to no man’s land? Negative.

So, without further ado, here are Mexico’s 3 most underrated all-inclusive getaways for 2025:

Mazatlan: Sinaloa’s Shining Star For A World-Class Vacation

Let’s get the buzzword out of the way: Sinaloa.

Row of resorts in Mazatlan

As you’ve gathered, Mazatlan is completely safe to visit; no more concerning than Cancun, Punta Cana, or any of the household names we rely on for your sunny paradisal escapes.

Mazatlan has been steadily gaining steam on travelers’ radars, especially in the digital nomad world.

But, many vacationers are sleeping on Mazatlan as a laid-back all-inclusive getaway with numerous resorts overlooking pristine beaches surrounded by a captivating cityscape full of urban delights and incredible views, such as El Faro Lighthouse.

According to TripAdvisor, these are the top 5 all-inclusive resorts in Mazatlan:

  1. Dreams Estrella del Mar Mazatlan Golf & Spa Resort
  2. El Cid Marina Beach Hotel
  3. Emporio Mazatlan
  4. El Cid Castilla Beach Hotel
  5. Hotel Riu Emerald Bay

Better yet, Mazatlan is fun to explore beyond the resorts with a buzzing nightlife, vibrant Plaza Machado, the scenic Malecon boardwalk, and even a random ode to The Beatles.

Beachside resort pool in Mazatlan

Mazatlan does have Uber, but you gotta check out the funky Pulmonias to get around; essentially their version of a “tuk tuk”.

Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo: My Favorite Mexican Beach Town

I’ve been all over Mexico, but my recent trip to Ixtapa kicked Mahahual to second place in my favorite Mexican beach town’s rankings.

As a former Cabo Sun contributor, I even put my travel reputation on the line, saying Ixtapa is prettier! (no offense, Sammy Haggar)

Located in the state of Guerrero, the twin cities of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo offer a different set of attractions, but you’ll find ample resorts on both sides.

Playa El Pelmar in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo

I stayed at Barcelo, and it was fantastic having a pair of swim-up bars to choose from, an all-you-can-eat seafood feast, and a pool to die for overlooking the waves crashing ashore Playa El Palmar, a certified Blue-Flag beach.

According to TripAdvisor, these are the top 5 all-inclusive resorts in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo:

  1. Club Med Ixtapa Pacific
  2. Las Brisas Ixtapa
  3. Emporio Ixtapa
  4. Hotel Fontan Ixtapa
  5. Sunscape Dorado Pacifico Ixtapa

Better yet, you can visit the secret island of Isla Ixtapa, with perfect snorkeling conditions and unknown ruins of Xihuacan, far off the radar from the likes of Teotihicaun and Chichen Itza.

Manzanillo: The “Santorini Of Mexico”

Sweeping views of white-washed townscape of Manzanillo

There’s no place quite like Santorini, Greece, but in Latin America, Manzanillo is the next best thing.

Beholding a white-washed townscape overlooking vivid blue waters, Manzanillo is perhaps Mexico’s most underrated all-inclusive resort town, largely in part due to the state of Colima’s uprise in crime.

Vacationers in Manzanillo shouldn’t be overly concerned with crime reports as the jewel of Colima has its own airport with numerous connections to U.S. cities, such as Houston, Dallas, and Phoenix, so you can fly over the “dangerous” areas, which are mostly attributed to Colima City.

Upon arriving, you’ll find ample high-end resorts perched beachside with a cultural town center to explore anchored by the picturesque Zocalo and idyllic Malecon for seaside strolls.

According to TripAdvisor, these are the top 5 all-inclusive resorts in Manzanillo:

  1. Barceló Karmina
  2. Las Hadas By Brisas
  3. Hotel Vista Playa de Oro Manzanillo
  4. Hotel Tesoro Manzanillo
  5. Gran Festivall All Inclusive Resort

Escape To Luxury: Live Like Royalty At This All-Inclusive Punta Cana Beach Resort With A Secret Pool

[ad_1]

Last Updated

People opt for all-inclusive resorts for a variety of different reasons.

For some, it’s the endless amounts of food and drinks; others spend countless hours poolside, and the rest may simply want to unwind in paradise, enjoying all the posh amenities like complimentary room service.

My recent trip to the Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa checks off all the boxes and more, and to be honest, I couldn’t think of a better way to kickstart summer.

From the seamless airport pick-up to room check-out, I was treated like royalty instead of just another face in the crowd of a long line of vacationers.

Aerial view of Punta Cana Resort

Greeted with a welcome cocktail and the friendliest bellhop I’ve ever met, Francel led me to my spacious ocean-view room for the week, mere steps from private access to the Dominican Republic’s most renowned beach, Bavaro.

Tucked away from loud motorcycle-filled streets and Punta Cana’s famous nightclubs, staying at this lavish 5-star resort is a haven for privacy in paradise, arguably one of the most blissful beach vacations on Caribbean soil.

Bon Appetit: 18 Restaurants To Choose From

Let’s start with the endless options of food…and maybe a few cold ones here and there.

But first, know that there are 4 separate resorts all part of one grand property. In addition to the Grand Palace (where I stayed), there are:

  • TRS Turquesa
  • Grand Grand Palladium Punta Cana
  • Grand Palladium Bavaro Suites

Guests have access to all the restaurants no matter where you stay as part of your all-inclusive package, excluding 4 limited to TRS guests only.

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed starting my day with breakfast as Las Torres day after day.

Some resorts have buffets where you may question what’s on your plate – not here, though.

From made-to-order omelets, a crepe station, an array of fresh fruits, and surprisingly delicious cappuccinos (yes, I’m a coffee snob!), this was my go-to day after day.

For lunch, I switched it up from beachside steaks Helio’s Beach Club one day to endless pizza the next, but it’s dinner where this resort shines the most in terms of its wide variety of international cuisines.

From interactive Japanese teppanyakis, to flavorful Indian delights, and decidant pasta topped with truffles and caviar, you can’t go wrong.

There’s even the Healthy Habits Bar for those who refuse to give in to “cheat days” on vacation. No judgement – more sugar and carbs for me!

I would highly recommend trying to score a plate of the freshly sliced suckling pig offered at Las Torres’ dinner service – so tender and flavorful.

While some may rightfully use vacations as their excuse to catch up on sleep, I’m the type who wants to take advantage of the moment and experience it all.

Where I found myself night after night was the only 24-hour establishment on-site, Xtra Time Sports Bar. When the hand-crafted cocktails came to a stop at Hemingway’s, the night continued on at Xtra Time.

Here, you won’t know where the night ends and the morning begins. You have a wide selection of snacks and cold Presidentes available at all hours where you can keep up with your favorite team back home.

If I Go Missing, You Can Find Me At The ‘Secret Pool’

Turns out the ‘Secret Pool’ is not so secret, but what’s great about it is this is a haven for those of us looking to escape screaming children for some grown-up time.

Secret Pool at Grand Palladium Punta Cana
Image Courtesy Of Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa

As a family-friendly resort, you will surely have run-ins with kids, but there are ample spaces to enjoy some peace, quiet, and adult beverages.

The Secret Pool was my hands-down favorite place to hang out during the day with a swim-up bar specializing in Pina Coladas, shaded cabanas, and more open space, not that crowds were ever an issue.

Of course, there were multiple pools scattered throughout the lavish resort, but this one stood out the most for its draw of exclusivity.

Across from the TRS, this side of the property is for those of us looking to enjoy our downtime unbothered, which more than exceeded the mark in that aspect.

Fun In The…Mud? A 10/10 Spa Day!

Not everyone is into spas on vacation, but you would be doing yourself a disservice by skipping out on a day pass to the Zentropia Spa and Wellness.

Massage table at resort spa

The entire program offered is unmatched,. The 30-minute massage was among the best I’ve had anywhere and this comes from someone who has been transformed into a human pretzel in Bangkok.

Immediately following the massage, you’re provided with a hot tea while awaiting a truly unique experience, something I’ve never had the pleasure of taking part in.

Zentropia takes a page out of Katy Perry’s book believing in hot and cold treatments. Once you take a required shower for hygienic purposes, you’re guided into a sauna followed by an ‘ice room’.

Going back and forth between extreme opposite temperatures may sound tortuous on paper, but it’s shockingly pleasant.

Followed by my personal favorite, the steam room, spritzing a menthol fragrance for the perfect finish before relaxing in the jacuzzi to recharge.

Woman in pool at resort spa

For the grand finale, you’re guided to a hidden area of the spa where you sit on a rock Flinstones-style after lathering organic clay masks, each with different health benefits.

These colorful mud baths may make you look crazy, but they’re surprisingly soothing. Just keep in mind removing all the mud afterwards can be a challenge in the unpredictable hot and cold showers, somehow oddly fitting given the spa’s itinerary.

Opt For A Private Beach Or Incredible Day Trip

As part of the ‘Palladium experience’, you will have exclusive access to over half a mile of not only the D.R.’s most renowned beach but also one of the most sought-after in the entire Caribbean.

Bavaro Beach is undoubtedly gorgeous with crystal-clear waters and soft sand living up to the hype.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature has other plans this time of year, such as turning this paradisal beach into a game of The Floor Is Lava with seaweed.

In other words, it’s sargassum season. Some days are better than others and the beach is still great for lounging in the sun or going for a swim, but you will brush up against sargassum, an icky brown algae, at one point or another.

While I loved taking walks on the pristine Blue-flag certified beach and going for a swim, the highlight of the trip for me was a day trip to Isla Saona.

Tucked away from luxe resorts, hordes of tourists, and best of all, free of sargassum, my time spent on the postcard-worthy island was well worth the hours-long journey by bus and boat.

The waters and beach were truly pristine and top-notch for snorkeling, especially to see plentiful starfish. It’s highly advised not to touch them as they are a protected species.

10 Important Things Travelers Should Pack On Their Next All-Inclusive Vacation

[ad_1]

Share The Article

Last Updated

Headed to an all-inclusive paradise for a week (or two!) sometime soon? Whether you’re headed to Punta Cana, the latest resort in Cancun, or jetting off to Jamaica, here are some essential travel items to pack in your suitcase for your next all-inclusive vacation.

The suitcases are ready for the holidays. On a maldives island waiting suitcases for the pickup

1. Quick Dry Beach Towel

Tired of those bulky hotel towels that just soak up all of the sand? For your next all-inclusive (or just about any type of getaway) consider investing in a quick-dry beach towel.

This must-carry travel item is truly gem: it packs super light, it dries quickly and efficiently, AND there are so many on the market right now that are sand proof! With just a few shakes, the sand is off of your towel so you don’t end up carrying the whole beach with you back to your hotel.

2. Shampoo & Body Bars

Shampoo bars, conditioner bars, soap bars, moisturizing bars, all the bars. Save yourself the extra stress when it comes to packing liquids in your carry-on and pack a small plastic bag of soap solids for your next all-inclusive vacation. Because each airline is different, it’s hard to know the amount of liquids that you’re allowed to carry on board with you, so soap and shampoo bars with not only save you some room in your luggage but you won’t run the risk of getting them confiscated when you’re going through security.

It’s much easier nowadays to head to a local shop and find homemade bars with simple ingredients, so let’s normalize these low-waste wonders for all future travel packing lists.

Hand holding stack of shampoo and soap bars

3. Bluetooth Speaker

This tech item is quickly becoming one of the top travel must-haves for 2022. You can’t go wrong with a bluetooth speaker to take with you to the beach or for when you’re just chilling in your hotel room.

If you plan to spend lots of time poolside and at the beach, take things to the next level and purchase a waterproof bluetooth speaker; one with an IPX8 rating means that it will still be protected even if it’s been submerged in water.

4. Probiotic Drops

Travel sickness is real, but there are ways to combat it. A classic travel hack that I have is to always make sure my gut is filled with some of that good bacteria before a trip; this will limit my risk of getting sick while on the road.

One easy way to do this is to eat a serving or two of yogurt the few days leading up to your trip. But if you want to take some protection on your all-inclusive vacation with you, these probiotic drops are a must! 10 drops of a liquid concentrate with water or juice (I recommend juice – the taste is really bitter!) is a great way to prepare your stomach for a new environment filled with new food and drink.

A little white bottle of grapefruit seed extract. Nutritibiotic grapefruit liquid concentrate

5. Carry-On Suitcase

With all of the luggage nightmares happening nowadays, it’s safe to say that traveling carry-on only is the way to go in 2022. If you want to avoid the stress of dealing with baggage loss or delays for your vacation, invest in one amazing carry-on suitcase that will be by your side for years.

Remember that the standard luggage size for most airlines is approximately 55 x 40 x 23 cm/ 21.5 x 15.7 x 9 in (maximum) so make sure your wheelie suitcase or backpack fits those dimensions.

6. Reef Safe Sunscreen

With more chemical-based sunscreens being banned in popular travel destinations (such as Hawaii), it’s a pretty safe bet to start shopping for your new favorite sunscreen that is zinc oxide based. Lots of mineral and coral reef-safe sunscreens come in reusable tins, so they will be easy to pack for your all-inclusive getaway.

Brands like Thinksport also have effective, reef-safe sunscreens for the whole family (baby, kids, adults) that are available in carry-on sizes, so these are a new travel must-have.

7. Travel Citronella Candle

Balmy tropical climates often come with mosquitoes, so if you don’t want your vacation ruined by swatting those annoying pests 24/7, consider bringing a travel-friendly citronella candle with you on your next all-inclusive vacation. Throw a few in your luggage that have a cover so that they will be easy and safe to carry around. You can light it up while you’re relaxing on the deck in the evening to help keep those mosquitoes at bay.

8. Beach Bag

A perfect personal item to pair with your carry-on luggage is a beach bag for your all-inclusive.

Pack all of your daily must-haves in here (sand-proof towel, water bottle, sunscreen, speaker) for your beach days or afternoons spent lounging by the pool.

9. Travel Adapter

An all-in-one travel adapter will always come in handy for a trip – it’s small and easy to throw into your carry-on, and you’ll never know when you might need it.

Whether you’re on an all-inclusive in Greece or Phuket, you’ll be able to charge your devices safely with this little travel adapter. You can buy them at the airport or at your nearest drug store.

10. Reusable Water Bottle

Not only will a travel water bottle save you money at the airport (hello $5 bottles of water), bringing a reusable water bottle for an all-inclusive vacation is a great way to carry around your favorite drinks while keeping them cool. Whether you plan on using it for your iced coffee or a beach cocktail, a reusable water bottle is an essential packing list item.
